The holiday season is upon us, and one of the most enjoyable aspects of the season is the giving of gifts. To help plan your gift-giving strategy to a wine lover, I have a few suggestions.
Of course, a bottle of wine is always a welcome gift. This year, however, put a set together with a bubbly, a rosé, a white and a red. The following four bottles can be had for less than $100 total. For the bubbly, buy an Italian prosecco from Zardetto, and a recent vintage rosé of Whispering Angel from Chateau d’Esclans in Provence. For your white selection, try a kabinett riesling from Mosel. The 2012 Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier is highly rated and very affordable. Complete your wine set with a Rioja from Spain. The 2007 La Rioja Alta Viña Alberdi Reserva will not disappoint.
