PALM BEACH DAILY NEWS- Think pink for wine this summer

“Chateau d’Esclans’ Whispering Angel is one of our biggest sellers,” said Josh Volpe of Hampton’s Liquors.

The wine is made by Sacha Alexis Lichine. Lichine grew up in the wine business. His father, Alexis, shaped the American wine industry. He was born in Russia, educated in France and owned a wine shop in New York City. After he sold his retail business, Lichine, along with Frank Schoonmaker, began importing French and German wines. He wrote several books on wine and at one time owned Chateau Prieure Lichine in Bordeaux.
His son, Sacha, began running Chateau Prieuré-Lichine at 27. After decades in the wine business, he bought Chateau d’Esclans in 2006. Whispering Angel has become one of the most respected examples of everything a well-made rose from the south of France should be. Whispering Angel sells for $20.
